Turin Overview

Turin, known in Italian as Torino, is located in the north western part of Italy, with a population of some 865,000 people. Recognised as an industrial centre for many years it is the home of the giant FIAT motor company, the building of which was made famous in the film "The Italian Job", where the Mini Coopers were seen being chased by the police Alfa Romeos around FIAT's rooftop test track.

Turin has not stood still though, and is now home to Ariane space programme projects and Italian media behemoth Rai. These new industries are indicative of the city's desire to progress, to embrace new technologies and facilitate their development and growth, all of which keeps the city of Turin at the head of European industry.

Like all Italian cities Turin is a fashion paradise, home to the finest haute couture and leading youth brands too, all packaged in that inimitable Italian style. This air of quality is found also in the many events hosted by the city during the year. International book film and music fairs are held here annually.

Turin - a city of constant development, where the future is always considered as the past is built upon.
