Tel Aviv Overview

Tel Aviv, situated on the Mediterranean coast of Israel is the second largest city in the country and has a population of some 365,000 people. It has developed quickly to become a national leader in terms of business and is also a very vibrant, exciting city.

Architecturally it is very modern, with the buildings creating the image the city wishes to live by - modern, forward thinking and ultra cool. It stands out in Israel because of these attributes and has become an extremely popular destination for Western visitors who feel at ease in this modern world.

In 2003 UNESCO gave the city World Heritage status thanks to its use of the Bauhaus design style to such a large degree. An accolade that is greatly appreciated by the everyone who lives in the White City as it is known.

Reflecting the city's desire to lead is the Tel Aviv University. Recognised globally for its expertise in physics, chemistry and computing - all aimed at taking the world forwards - this seat of learning is creating some of the people who will shape our future.

It is interesting to note that the city of Tel Aviv has not let go of its roots, possessing as it does a lot of the countries historical artefacts and documents, even though on the outside it has all the appearance of something new.

Tel Aviv has everything, a thriving economy, a great variety of shopping options, a wonderful range of bars, clubs and restaurants and lovely beaches too.
