St Johns Overview

More adventurous holidaymakers can go snorkelling or Scuba diving in the sea around the many great reefs and wrecks that surround on Antigua's coast. Those with a nautical bent can visit English Harbour and there charter a yacht to explore the coast from the sea. A sight no traveller should miss can be found at Devil's Bridge, where the incoming tide shoots surf through blowholes at the head of Indian Creek in a spectacular natural display.
Visitors wanting to sate their appetite for the Caribbean's rich history can spend an interesting half day wandering through the ruins at Fort James, to see the cannons that guarded the island from pirates and invasion, Alternatively though, you could just lie back on the beach and order another cocktail from the bar. Shopping in Antigua falls into two main categories, on the one hand there are small markets and shops where you can pick up any holiday essentials, and food if you are self catering in Antigua. The other category of shop is the upmarket designer boutiques, where you can pick up jewellery and couture - often at duty free prices.
St Johns Sporting Events
As one of the main cricket centres of the Caribbean, Antigua features a number of small local teams, and you can usually find a game going happening on the beach if you want to get involved. There are a number of excellent coral reefs just offshore where SCUBA diving is available, and if you are of a particularly nautical bent, why not charter a boat for the day, sail off to find a small idyllic cove, and go swimming.
