San Antonio Overview
San Antonio, Texas has developed since the early pioneer days into a bustling metropolis of some 1.1 million people, making it the third largest city in Texas and also the ninth largest in the USA.

Perceived originally as a small western town, San Antonio has gone on to be home to the first Museum of Modern art in Texas, the Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum; the largest medical research centre in Texas, the South Texas Medical Center; and a major site for the countries Armed Forces with Air and Army bases nearby.
No mention of San Antonio can go without also including the Alamo. Scene of an intrinsic part of American history and an iconic piece of American patriotism. A visit to this little Mission is a must.

Top San Antonio Attractions
The most well known has to be The Alamo, part of American folklore. It is where a group of Texans were held under siege in the local Mission by overwhelming Mexican forces and fought valiantly to the death. The famous historical names involved included Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and the commander Lieutenant Colonel William Barret Travis.
Shopping in San Antonio
For a real shopping experience take a stroll down the River Walk, a network of pedestrianised walkways that meander through the downtown area of the city but set a level below. With many shops and cafes, combined with the "get away from it all" feel that permeates through the area, this is a truly unique experience.
San Antonio Sporting Events
The San Antonio Spurs are the best known of the city's sports teams, performing very well in the NBA Basketball league. The support from the city is overwhelming, with major victories being celebrated in the streets by most of the population it seems, and as a successful team there may be many more of these taking place, so take the opportunity of seeing how good they are, and experience the level of support offered by the populace.
