You can benefit from cheap flights to Saint Lucia throughout the year, but in the Easter and Christmas peak seasons, hotels are busier, and you will have to pay more for your holiday, so the best bargains St Lucia holidays are in the low season.

Top Saint Lucia Attractions

The main attraction for any visitor to Saint Lucia is the stunning coastline, where picture perfect white sandy beaches are fringed with palm trees and look out over the glittering Caribbean sea.

Sights worth checking out if you can tear yourself away from the beach include the Soufriere sulphur springs in the south of the island, and the Frigate Island Nature reserve in the east, where one of the world's largest colonies of these pouch necked birds can be seen.

Shopping in Saint Lucia

Castries is a bustling harbour town with restaurants, bars and plenty of shops. Around the south east of the town there is a large market where you can pick up some local handicrafts and souvenirs. Prices on Castries market are not generally fixed, so you can barter with the stallholders to get a better deal. The most popular souvenirs of Saint Lucia include beautifully decorated shells, and paintings - particularly of the eastern coastline.

There are a few designer outlets in the more upmarket hotels that sell jewellery and clothes, but on the whole, these do tend to be slightly more expensive than the UK.

Saint Lucia Sporting Events

You are never far from the sea in Saint Lucia, and most of the activities available on the island take advantage of the calm warm Caribbean waters. Grown-ups can choose from sailing, wind surfing, and even SCUBA diving off the shores, while children will love snorkelling in the shallow water close to the beach.

There are a few small golf courses attached to the bigger hotels where you can play a round of golf, and the lush jungle interior of the island is perfect for hiking and exploring.
