Pittsburgh Overview
Pittsburgh, is a major commercial city located in Pennsylvania USA. One of the Unites States oldest cities, being founded in the 1750's around the US Army's Fort Pitt it has many stories to tell as it has evolved over the years.
Once known as Steel City because of the industry that was here, the situation has now changed so that it is now much more well known for robotics and biotechnology. This is indicative of the city as a whole - changing to meet the new demands facing it and not getting left behind as things change.
The long standing industrial history of the city has brought many migrants here, creating one of the most culturally diverse cities anywhere as people came here to find work and settled down. The different cultures can be most clearly defined during the summer festival periods, where there are so many different ones, each catering for its own people primarily but happily welcoming others.

Shopping in Pittsburgh
The Mall is king in Pittsburgh, with a whole host of them here offering every possible retail option that can be thought of. The choice is immense so any shopping trip should be carefully considered, otherwise there could be a real issue with fatigue! At the opposite end of the scale there are many wonderful small stores catering for the needs of the different populations here, with traditional foods a speciality.
Pittsburgh Sporting Events
With its industrial heritage it is no surprise that sport plays a big part in the city. Home to three major professional teams the city are always huge supporters, celebrating every victory with a passion that stems directly from the background where, after a hard days work it is good to unwind by cheering on your team. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the American Football side, and one that was seemingly unstoppable in the 70's when the industry in the city was at its peak. The Pirates are the city's Baseball team and the Penguins represent them in Ice Hockey.
