Miami Overview

It is not hard to see why Miami is one of the most popular destinations in the whole of the USA, after all, it is a city with a heady mix of different cultures, great weather, superb nightlife, and plenty to see and do no matter what your interests. Miami is a city that equally suited as a short break shopping destination with much better weather and all the same shops you'd find in New York, and also as a place to enjoy a longer holiday relaxing on the beautiful beaches.

Miami has something to offer for all ages, whether you are young or old, and the city and its surrounding areas are places that you will want to return to again and again in order to fit in every experience that is on offer. Whether you want to dance in the clubs, head out into the beautiful everglades with their fantastic wildlife including alligators, play golf, board a cruise ship or just sit still and soak up the sun, there is something for everyone.

You can get cheap flights to Miami pretty much all year round - although to take advantage of the best deals, you should avoid the school holidays. Miami is a real gateway city. The best place to enter Southern Florida, as well as being a major stop off point for cruises into the Caribbean. Miami is a popular holiday destination in its own right, with excellent beaches, distinctive Art Deco Hotels in South Beach, and has plenty to offer tourists of all ages.

Top Miami Attractions

Amongst the top attractions in Miami, there are few places so evocative as the area of South Beach. In the evening, when the famous art deco buildings are lit with neon, south beach is one of the most stunning places in the USA, and exploring it is like being in a movie.

Other sights to see in Miami include the beach itself, where sunbathing is the best way to spend your days, and Little Havana, where there is a real Cuban vibe.

Within driving distance of Miami, attractions include the famous Florida Keys, the Everglades, and the resort town of Fort Lauderdale a short distance up the Atlantic Coast.

Shopping in Miami

The best place for shopping in Miami is at the Sawgrass Manufacturers Outlet in the Sunrise neighbourhood where there are more than 200 shops selling discount goods. Miami has a reputation as a fashion centre - Gianni Versace was shot there - and consequently, there are plenty of places to get kitted out in the prestigious downtown area.

If you want to do some Christmas shopping in the states, but don't fancy spending your money getting cold and miserable in New York, why not fly to Miami as an alternative Christmas Shopping destination - that way, you can buy all your presents cheaply, and get a suntan so you look your best for the Christmas party!

Miami Sporting Events

The best-known team in Miami is the Miami Dolphins club who play American Football in the NFL, but you can also see a number of other sports in Miami. The Miami Heat is a popular basketball team, the Florida Panthers play Ice Hockey, and the Florida Marlins play baseball.

Activities in Miami range from the sedate - playing golf on one of the many championship standard golf courses in Miami, to the exciting - deep sea fishing for Marlin from the back of a speedboat.
