Jersey Overview
Jersey is one of the Channel Islands, located in the English Channel, just to the north of France. It is part of the United Kingdom though does have its own government and legislation.
The island has a very strong economy, with financial services, agriculture and tourism being its cornerstones. The people here enjoy an excellent standard of living thanks to the strong economy and also enjoy a great climate, with mild winters and warm summers. All in all it is a pretty good place to be.
The island has around 80,000 people on it, with some 25,000 being situated in the main town St Helier. The population itself tends to be a little older than other places, primarily due to the young people moving away in order to find work that they want and also for education in UK mainland universities.
For the visitor to Jersey the sheer beauty of the island cannot be underestimated. It has a mix of tremendous beaches, with a glorious sea bringing great surf waves in. Then, on other parts of the island, there are wonderfully green and lush hillsides, with views around the island.
The whole package is one that draws people to it without really trying. It is a jewel of an island, offering a great experience; from the clean streets, the lovely restaurants and fantastic low priced shopping to exhilarating water sports and sunbathing on the beaches.

Top Jersey Attractions
The island has quite a history, with its location close to France having a large part to play. It was the only part of Britain to be occupied by German forces during World War II so a number of museums and reconstructions have been created that allow visitors to understand some of that background.
Shopping in Jersey
Jersey has a tax free status so shopping here takes on a greater significance for visitors as the higher cost items can have a major saving when compared with purchases at home. The island has a relatively wealthy population so the shops cater for them very well, with some lovely local stores offering the very best fashions and styles.
Jersey Sporting Events
The island setting of Jersey, combined with the clear waters that surround it have led to a major development in water sports activities. Wind surfing and sailing are particularly enjoyed here, along with jet skiing and scuba diving. One of the big land based activities here is golf, with some wonderful courses on the island offering challenges for all standards of player.
