Cayman Islands Travel Guide
Travel guide to Cayman Islands, Cayman Islands with comprehensive information about events, shopping, and major Cayman Islands sporting events to help you enjoy your visit more.
Cayman Islands Overview
Located in the middle of the Caribbean south of Cuba, the Cayman islands have an international reputation for slightly dodgy offshore banking than as a bona fide tourist destination, but actually, the islands are a beautiful, and very safe place to take a break in a luxury hotel, and sunbathe on the beach or spend time enjoying diving on one of the many undersea coral.
Technically ruled from London as a dependency of the UK, the Cayman Islands have their own laid back feel, and attract legions of tourists from all around the world, who are drawn to the white sandy beaches, and the chance to unwind over a cocktail served on the beach.
Georgetown used to be just as pretty as any other Caribbean town, but the ill advised building of second homes for the large number of Americans on the island has dented its charms a little. There are plenty of interesting sights to see such as historic Fort George, and the Cayman museum, where there is a robotic pirate called Blackbeard who shares his stories with visitors.
If you want cheap flights to the Cayman Islands, it pays to look for the best available deals and travel outside the main American holiday periods, when visitor numbers are much lower.

Top Cayman Islands Attractions
The Cayman Islands offer a great combination of natural and manmade attractions to get you away from your sun-lounger for a few hours. The Queen Elizabeth Botanical Garden is one of the most popular excursions for visitors, and feature many tropical plant and animals that include iguanas and parrots.
Many visitors like to spend a day in Hell - a windswept and desolate coastal area to the north of the island where the sea currents whip up a great deal of spray onto the rocks.
The biggest beach is Seven Mile Beach - seven miles of golden sand north of Georgetown where you can relax in the sun or board one of the many fishing boats for a trip out into the ocean to catch some marlin.
Shopping in Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands' reputation as a destination for the wealthy means that the products on sale on the islands are skewed somewhat towards the higher end of the market. In Georgetown there are a number of designer boutiques with all the latest fashions on sale.
Prices are typically much lower than in the UK, and comparable with prices in US malls.
Cayman Islands Sporting Events
With such clear water surrounding the islands, and the rumours of pirate treasure and sunken galleons, it should come as no surprise that SCUBA diving is so popular in the Caymans.
Most hotels have their own diving school that can arrange excursions, and the local guides know all the best places to get wet.
Sailing and windsurfing are also popular, and with so many small, secluded islands to visit, it is possible to head off for the day in order to find a quiet spot to cavort in secret for a few hours.
