Bridgetown Overview
Barbados is portrayed as a paradise of smiling faces, palm lined sun-kissed beaches, clear blue seas, and beautiful hotels, and in general, the brochures are fairly close to the mark! As a holiday destination, Barbados offers pretty much everything you could want. From golf and shopping to water sports and relaxation, with everything presented with such warmth and hospitality you feel more like a guest than a tourist. By day, Barbados is heaven for sun bathing and relaxing, and when the sun goes down, people head to the bars and lively nightclubs where everyone gets together and dances to the Caribbean beat.
With more than 100 Km of stunning coastline, Barbados deserves its reputation as a beach destination. The west Caribbean coast offers the best beaches facing calm seas. For those wanting to surf, the best bet is to take your board over to the East Coast, where the Atlantic Ocean provides fantastic waves all year round. The south combines both, and offers safe beaches that are a great place to windsurf and snorkel.
You can get cheap flights to Barbados online and the island's tropical climate almost guarantees warm weather whenever you visit. The high season for Barbados runs through from October through until just after Easter. Because of higher demand, hotel accommodation and flights can cost twice as much as they do for the rest of the year.

Bridgetown Sporting Events
Aside from cricket and golf, the main attraction for sports fans in Barbados is the sea. The 100km of coastline offers beaches with all manner of different characters, and provides the ideal location for a number of different sports.
Try your hand at surfing on the rugged east coast, where the pounding waves of the Atlantic crash onto the shores; windsurf off the south coast where the oceans meet, and there are sustained breezes and calm water; or head for the quiet west coast, where the still waters of the Caribbean are ideal for swimming and SCUBA diving.
