Boston Overview
Boston has a been described as being the Athens of America as a result of it being one of the main university cities in the USA, but there is far more to this great city than academia. Boston is a superb gateway to the whole of New England, and offers many stunning attractions to make your stay worthwhile.
The city has a superb location on a small peninsula of land just south of the famous university town of Harvard. You can explore the compact city centre in a day, although the wealth of attractions will take much longer to fully absorb, and that's before you even start shopping in the malls and department stores.
Boston was one of America's earliest colonies, and early on, developed a reputation as one of the most important and forward thinking. There are many historic areas of Boston that date back to the birth of the USA as a host of historic sites, and museums that explore the city's role in the American Revolution.
Boston is a great place to visit whether you come on a short city break or as the starting point of a driving tour around historic New England.
