Aside from the wine and food that are a renowned highlight of Bordeaux, shoppers visiting the city are usually impressed by the chance to pick up some great clothes and other designer goods in the chopping area close to the centre of the city. Most major designers have boutiques in Bordeaux, and the city has a great reputation as a major fashion centre in France.
Other good buys include antiques and art, and in the small villages across the region there are frequent sales featuring popular furniture styles.
Bordeaux Sporting Events
As home to one of France's main football teams, Bordeaux regularly hosts major football matches, and the team have enjoyed some success in Europe over recent years. Unless the visiting team are from the upper echelons of football, it is usually possible to pick up tickets to watch a game while you are in town.
Golfing holidays to the region have become more popular in the last few years, and there are courses all along the coast that offer the chance to play a round or two, and this can be a great way to relax between visits to vineyards or to work off the calories from the long enjoyable lunches.
