Top Bermuda Attractions

Despite having a reputation as fairly staid place to visit, there is still plenty to see and do on any holiday to Bermuda, and many interesting sights to pack into your stay.

Make sure you visit the old British Naval Yards, where there are a number of museums about the strategic importance of the island, while in St George the former capital you can see some interesting old buildings and a fort.

If you like beaches, head to the south of the island, where in the South Shore coastal reserve, there are several great sunbathing and surfing spots including the legendary Long Bay break.

Shopping in Bermuda

The best places for shopping are all in the capital city, Hamilton. On Chancery Lane and Old Cellar Lane, you can explore many small friendly shops that sell paintings and designer goods.

The best souvenirs are driftwood carvings and watercolour paintings, and you can find plenty of these in the gift shops at the Royal Naval Dockyard on the west of the island.

Bermuda Sporting Events

Sometimes it seems that the only sport that counts in Bermuda is golf, and the popularity of the sport among travelling Americans has ensured that there are more golf courses per head of population than anywhere else in the world.

During the summer, cricket is popular due to the resident's fixation with everything British, and you can often see matches being played on the village greens of Hamilton and the other Bermuda towns.

Sailing and scuba diving are both very popular in the seas around Bermuda, and one of the lagoons at the Naval Dockyard has been filled with interesting obstacles to make it a great place to snorkel on a sunny day.
