A major cultural centre, Baltimore is home to a symphony orchestra, a handful of truly top class museums and art galleries, not to mention being rated as one of the top culinary cities in the USA.

Top Baltimore Attractions

For families, Baltimore Zoo is a great place to spend a few hours. One of the oldest in the USA, the zoo is home to more than 2000 animals including an impressive collection of exotic reptiles.

On a similar theme, the National Aquarium of America is located close to the USS Constellation at the harbour, and gives visitors the chance to be educated at the same time as having some fishy fun with stingrays, sharks and a wide variety of other sea animals.

Shopping in Baltimore

While not as impressive as New York when it comes to shopping, Baltimore still boasts a great number of top class shops and stores - particularly in the city centre where you can find all the usual big names such as Saks and Macy's. Out of town discount outlets provide a great opportunity to buy sports goods at really low prices; while in the small villages of Maryland, there are any number of small galleries selling local paintings, and plenty of antique stores.

Baltimore Sporting Events

The best-known sports team in Baltimore are the internationally famous baseball team the Baltimore Orioles, who tend to be the main topic of conversation in the city's many sports bars. Watching a baseball match is a great way to experience one of the great American passions for yourself, and tickets are available throughout the city right up to the start of the match.

Slightly less well known, the Baltimore Ravens are a popular NFL American Football team, and if you like your sport with all the Razzamatazz of a rock concert, then make an effort to watch the team play at their colossal stadium just outside the city.
