Bali Overview
There is no word in the local language for paradise, but it may as well be home. Bali is one of the most truly stunning islands in the world. People travel to Bali from all over the world in order to enjoy the treasures that it offers, to stay in the luxurious resort hotels and dance in the nightclubs; to shop in the modern malls and traditional markets and to tour the gorgeous landscapes of the interior where they can watch traditional dancing and reach out into the mysteries of the peaceful, generous culture of the islanders.
Sure Bali has problems, there is social inequality, corruption and occasional trouble, but with so much to enjoy, it is easy to overlook the shortcomings on the island, and appreciate the good things fully.

Top Bali Attractions
Something that every visitor to Bali should do is take a trip into the heart of the island and visit Ubud. Aside from the stunning scenery in the area, you can visit the cultural centre of Bali and see traditional Balinese dancing, get spa treatments, and buy many of the beautiful local crafts from their makers.
The main resort towns of Kuta, Nusa Dua and Sanur offer a variety of nightclubs, great beaches, and shopping areas, along with the usual water parks and other holiday essentials.
Shopping in Bali
In Kuta and Nusa Dua, there are shopping centres and market places where you can pick up the essentials, along with locally produced goods such as sarongs and sculptures.
Many people travelling to Bali take the opportunity to stop off in Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur along the way in order to take advantage of the excellent shopping in the major South East Asian cities and stock up on goods before they arrive.
Bali Sporting Events
The ocean around Bali is great for most water sports - especially SCUBA diving, and the island attracts divers and sailors from all over the world. Most hotels have a PADI dive centre and can arrange most activities for you.
Inland, there are several rivers that offer white water rafting during the wetter parts of the year, and again, this exciting sport can usually be arranged through your hotel.
Although there are no major sporting teams on Bali, Premiership football is flowed with almost religious fervour in the sports bars, and Manchester United (rather predictably) are the local favourites.
