Northwest encourage staff to be open minded about mergers

Northwest Airlines’ chief executive have warned their employees that staying on the sidelines during their rivals consolidation could hurt the US carrier’s future, a signal that he may be ready to discuss a merger with Delta Air Lines. Doug Steenland, chief executive of Northwest sent a memo out to the employees of Northwest Airlines shortly after a board meeting took place on Delta’s board on Friday.  They were discussing whether to merge with Northwest Airlines or United Airlines.

Northwest Airline 1971 plane robbery is still unsolved

November 1971, Mr DB Cooper, known as Dan Cooper boarded a Northwest Airline plane.  As all passengers were settled in their seats waiting for take off, Cooper passed a note to a stewardess which read “You are being hijacked” he also said he had a bomb and he would use it if necessary.

Northwest will start this new non-stop flight service on 1st June 2008.

Northwest Airlines is reluctant when Airbus bring A380 to US.

Airbus pay a visit to Minneapolis airport on their A380 jet plane but insist it is not a sales call, but Northwest airlines say nobody visits Minneapolis airport for its scenery; Airbus seem to be trying all marketing strategies for the Airbus A380 because of its slow selling. Northwest Airlines have agreed to have a look over the new aircraft whilst it has landed in their home airport.

Northwest Airlines announces cheap flights to London

Competition on the route from Seattle to London seems to be hotting up after Northwest Airlines announced it will be starting non-stop flights on 1st June. Northwest Airlines, based in Minneapolis kick started their Seattle London’s Heathrow bookings at a low price of USD667 for a round trip including airport taxes. Tickets at this price must be purchased before January 22nd to qualify for the special offer.

Northwest Airlines saw an open in the market with this route as British Airways are the only airline that currently fly non stop on this route.
