Qantas Airways, the flagship airline of Australia offering daily flights to Sydney and other Australian Cities has, due to potential claims from the US department of Justice, found itself in extremely hot water over the activity of some its executives.

Four former executives and two currently serving have been named amid the turmoil that has been created over the FBIs investigation into a cargo cartel. The announcement which has hit the companys share price could see measures being introduced that that would see the executives being extradited to the US to help the investigators with their enquiries.

The probe is mainly centred amid claims that a cargo cartel has been operating in and out of Europe and the USA and several other international airline have been named in the probe. BA, Air France, Lufthansa and Cargolux have all been mentioned in the probe which is being conducted in conjunction with the EUs European Commission after complaints had been made over the way the airlines have helped fix fuel prices.
