Northwest Airlines flight attendants have stated they will only support the merger between Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines if the airlines promise to make substantial improvements to their contracts.
The union for Northwest Airlines who operate flights to Baltimore for example, and other US cities has over 8,200 members said in a press statement that it's also hoping to secure stock in the merged company for members, better compensation and job protections.
Last week, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines began merger discussions Northwest Airlines Corp., with the goal of completing the talks in two weeks, according to media reports. If Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines go ahead with the merge it will create the biggest schedule airline carrier in the USA, ahead of American Airlines. They will need to decide whether the combined group would be organised into a union, this will be voted on.
