Malaysia Airlines orders new aircraft

With the continued expansion of aircraft for airlines based in Asia, Malaysian Airlines who operate flights to Kuala Lumpur , Hong Kong and Tokyo has decided to join in. In a move that will allow them to continue their effort of making a profit, the airline has ordered a whole new set of aircraft.

Malaysian Airlines have been hit by a number of financial crises including the Asian financial crisis and the more recent credit crunch in the United States.

The new set of aircraft are according to the state owned company’s manager director going to help Malaysian Airlines to provider quality flight services are low costs. The types of aircraft Malaysian Airlines are due to buy have not been disclosed, however they are expected to be buying both wide and narrow bodied models. Of course the two major aircraft manufacturers – Boeing and Airbus are in the running to provide the aircraft to make up the new part of the Malaysian Airline fleet.

Airbus may have a slight advantage over Boeing as they are currently working deliver 6 of the new A380 super jumbo jets. The advantage may however fall to Boeing as Airbus have struggled meeting their orders due to production problems.
