Government tries to safeguard Inverness BMI London routes

Bmi have decided to suspend their route between Inverness and London Heathrow at the end of March which has caused the local Scottish councils to press the Scottish government to safeguard the flights to Inverness routes. Bmi have blamed poor ticket sales for the decision to pull this flight route.
When Bmi announced their decision to stop their Inverness flights earlier this month, the Scottish transport minister, Stewart Stevenson has thought to be trying to arrange a meeting with Bmi bosses to urge them to re-think the decision in a bid to try and save the Inverness to London route.
"It is also particularly disappointing, given Highlands and Islands Airports efforts to achieve a better scheduling of the service, which would have gone a long way to improving its viability," he told the broadcaster at the time.
