Millions of people will be flying home to be with their families over the holiday season and a few thousand passengers will be asked to try out a new generation of services that allows you to text and email from your own mobile phones and portable devices whilst you are airborne.
This week and over the next month or so a number of airlines including: JetBlue Airways, American Airlines, Virgin America, Alaska Airlines, Air France-KLM, BMI, TAP and Ryanair.
All airlines based in the USA and Europe will start the new services on some of there flights with the plan to extend it to all of their aircraft within a 12 to 18 month time span.
American Airlines, Virgin America, Alaska Airlines plan to offer a broad web experience at a cost of around $10 per flight.
