Disruptions for Virgin Nigeria flight at Gatwick
Published: 23/06/08
Whilst the Virgin flight to Nigeria was parked at Gatwick airport waiting for its scheduled take off and incident occurred where damage was done to the nose cowl, which left the aircraft standing and the flight had to be cancelled and rescheduled the Lagos/London inbound and out bound flights.
The incident happened when a baggage container was left unsecured which was caught by strong winds that day and rolled into a collision with the engine of the aircraft which was parked at Gatwick preparing for its next flight.
Virgin Nigeria are taking all the necessary steps to ease the situation, including chartering two new aircrafts to operate the flight service until the normal aircraft is fixed and ready to fly again.
