US Airways to fly between Philadelphia and Beijing

US Airways have planned to purchase a new Airbus A340 to cover a new route between Philadelphia and Beijing. The new route is set to begin in 2009.
US Airways are waiting on approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the new route between Philadelphia and Beijing which will be the first direct flight from Philadelphia to the Middle Kingdom.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has also approved new routes for American Airlines to Chicago and Beijing, Continental Airlines to New York and Shanghai, Northwest Airlines to Detroit and Shanghai. All these new routes for the other airlines have been given the go ahead by the U.S. Department of Transportation to start in 2009.
