Qatar Airways and General Electric strike bumper deal

Qatar Airways have struck a deal which will give G.E. a welcomed $1.2 billion dollars worth of trade. The order made by the Qatari based airline will account for over 10% of the engine producing company based in the United States and will be seen by many as a healthy boost to the US economy.
The GEnx engines are to mainly used in the airlines fleet of Boeing 787’s as well as providing power for the Boeing 777’s. With flights to Qatar and the Middle East increasing rapidly, Qatar Airlines decided that to improve upon its business model and to increase long term profitability then investment was an absolute must.
The news was also welcomed state side, with G.E.’s CEO commenting on how the GEnx engines were in such high demand and that production was going to be increased by over 50% to meet sales. The GEnx seems to be extremely popular across the Middle East as orders for the engines have now been placed by Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Jordan.
