British Airways set to bid on Iberia Airlines

British Airways, - Britain’s biggest and Europe’s second largest is set to make a bid for Spanish airline Iberia Airlines. Iberia Airlines is regarded as Spain’s flagship airline and is now the fourth largest in the whole of Europe is seen as a possible target as BA announces record profits. With Iberia offering many routes and flights to the USA, British Airways is interested in creating new options with the airline.
British Airways announced the deal with a number of partners saying that they could make an offer on the Spanish Airline as early as December 2007. Despite the British Airline been in a very healthy financial position it has ruled out an independent bid and would need the backing from a consortium.
