British Airways Profits take off

Published: 23/07/08

British Airways has announced a welcomed 50% increase in its operating profit for the first half of 2007.  The news was commented on by Willie Walsh who has mentioned that the increase in profits was due to the way the business has managed to cut its costs and increase its own staff’s effectiveness.  The profits announcement also comes at a troubled time for airlines operating from within the United Kingdom.

Conditions such as the high cost of oil have made the price of aircraft fuel increase considerably. Other problems that have hindered performance include problems such as the increase in terrorism measures that severely affect Heathrow airport and the airlines that operate there.
