British Airways announces new Dreamliner order

British Airways have announced today that they have secured a deal for 24 new Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliners’ which is said to be worth a total of £2.2 billion.  The ‘Dreamliners’ will be made specifically for British Airways with additional options.  British Airways have purchased rights to buy almost twice this amount of Boeings in the future.

British Airways have not announced a date that they expect delivery of the new Boeing ‘Dreamliners’ but the aircraft are due to commence passenger service in May 2008.

The new Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliners’ have been built to be more economical and global friendly, they are said to use 20% less fuel per passenger than any other aircraft its size, produce less carbon emissions and the engine has been built to be quieter during take off and landing.
