Virgin Atlantic now plans on breaking through even more frontiers

Not content with just crossing the Atlantic in a balloon, crossing the English Channel in an amphibious vessel, Richard Branson now plans on conquering the vast wildernesses of Earth’s oceans. Branson has just announced that he is planning to build a submarine that is capable of exploring the lowest depths of the oceans. The ocean venture, along with Virgin’s space programme is one of the adventures that the billionaire is now planning for.

Branson is hoping that the submarine will be primarily used for research but also hinted that there may be commercial value in the mission as the submarine will be able to explore the huge mineral deposits that the oceans possess.

Branson’s other major idea for tourism is of course his long term goal of space flight tourism. Branson and Virgin Galactic is hoping the first flights will take off in 2009 but 2010 will be the more likely year. The question on most people’s lips will be how much does it cost? Well the answer is about £100,000 and for that you get to see the Earth at 360,000 feet and spend some quality time with not only Branson, but human genius Stephen Hawking.
